DIGA’s H.264 encoder compresses the recorded programmes at a lower bitrates but retain its high-definition resolution, which takes up less space on the disc without compromising on picture quality as much. The images are crisp and clear due to advanced compression technologies that are optimized to match each scene.

Freeview HD will bring HD channels from BBC, ITV and Channel 4, along with S4C HD in Wales, to your front room. Later in 2010, Five HD will come to Freeview. Imagine your favourite soaps and dramas, documentaries and even the 2010 world sports event in full HD glory.

The 35-hour long time archiving in HM mode is also convenient for saving hard disk space. In HM mode, a maximum of 169 hours of high definition recording data can be save onto HDD (250GB).

DIGA becomes more convenient with addition of Rewind Live TV. On top of Pause Live TV which let you pause live TV programmes as if you are watching recorded programmes, Rewind Live TV will allow you to rewind live TV to the scene which you want to, upto 2 hours, so you wont miss important moments. *Rewind Live TV will be effective while channel stays the same. *The function of Rewind Live TV does not work during simultaneous recording. *For Pause Live TV, when 8 hours pass since the programme was recorded, the recording stops.

11-Jun-2010 John Menmuir: Does this DVD recorder have the facility for tranferring an HD recording fron hard disc to DVD. It doesn't claim to be Blu Ray so I am puzzled?

jeremy: You can record from the hard disc to DVD but you won't be able to copy over in full HD as the disc won't take HD content. It will only copy in standard defintion

Jonathan: Yes it will.

27-Jul-2010 jaxon: Can the DMR-XW380 twin tuners record two different programs on the HDD simultaneously? Can it play music CDs, and VCDs and SVCDs?

jeremy: yes you can record 2 different channels at the same time. The device will play CD's as well

26-Dec-2010 Paul: Can you confirm,1) it will record a whole series, 2) that you can set up the machine to start recording a few minutes before and after ALL the required programmes, 3) whist recording 2 programmes can you watch a 3rd. - thanks Paul

jeremy: this has twin tuners, so if you're using this as you main picture source, then you can watch one channel whilst recording another or record two channels, but can't watch a third. It will series record & you can alter the start & end times.
