SAMSUNG TV adopts the LED lamp for back lighting instead of CCFL which ensures no mercury released. Standard LCD TVs use a simple constant backlight to illuminate the image on trhe screen. But this type of lamp is too bright to display decent black images, so blacks can look grey and washed out.
