KDL40EX403U Feature1080p HDTV''s deliver more detail, which can enhance the viewing experience for more attentive visual persons, but it takes the right distance from the TV and a fine eye to truly appreciate it. The most important factor is to view the color, how the TV handles black coloring, the contrast, and most importantly, what you will mainly use the TV for before you make a judgment. KDL40EX403U FeatureThis mode allows films to be watched as intended by the director for the big screen, at 24 frames per second. Until now, movies watched at home play back ''''faster'''' than they do in the cinema. When a film is shown on TV or sold on DVD it has to be adjusted to be compatible with the PAL format. The difference is that films are shot at a rate of 24 frames per second, whereas standard TV uses 25 frames per second. KDL40EX403U FeatureYou can tell a good TV by the way it reproduces colour. That’s why Sony developed its own high-resolution image processors – and fitted them in every TV in the ground-breaking new BRAVIA LCD range. 2-Apr-2010 sarah: Does this tv kdl40ex403u have a swivel stand ?

jeremy: No it doesn't

15-Apr-2010 Eve Grosse: I can see the bottom edge of the Sony frame is grey or silver, and the right side of the frame is black, but is the top left and side also a finished in a shade of grey, or is it just the way the way it's photographed?! Is it matte black and grey, or shiny black? Thanking you.

jeremy: This has a gloss black surround which has a perlecent grey bottom section

23-May-2010 nigel: The 403 says it has freeview HD Tuner and the 503 says it has freeview and freeview HD. Will the 403 still pick up those channels that are not HD in standard freeview?

jeremy: Freeview HD picks up all the standard freeview channels as well as the additional High definition channels

4-Jun-2010 Joe Edwards: Is this a 50Hz TV?

jeremy: 50hz

9-Jun-2010 dave: I have read some good reviews about this tv etc but with it being 50hz is this not a bit behind the times with 100hz being standard on better tvs etc

jeremy: Its all to do with hitting a certain price. To some people 100hz isn't a major issue if they can save some money. If you are looking for a 100hz you need to go for the KDL40EX503U. Currently this range is our best selling Sony

22-Jun-2010 seb: what's the contrast ratio?thanks

jeremy: Sorry but ssssony, along with a lot of other manufacturers, don't give a value to their contrast ratio any more. They just class it as high

30-Dec-2010 mac: Will I get the 5 year warrenty if I buy it online. It says if bought in store. Thanks.

jeremy: Yes you will. The 5 year offer is on until the end of Jan

30-Dec-2010 Stephen C: I have a 50HZ 19" TV and want to upgrade to 40". I'm undecided between this one, the 403, or the 503. Watching DVDs etc on my current TV is ok, would the same refresh rate on a 40" look the same? I'd hate to get the 403 and find that I should have gone for the 503. I have looked at some on display in stores but they always have demos for Sky HD running and I can't see a difference

jeremy: on a 40" set, I would go with the 503 100hz model, because watching standard broadcasts, the 50hz set isn't very good
